Pallets
Jeremy II, Candy & Violet |
We were lucky enough to have some large items delivered on pallets. Some hardwood, some pine. They looked new. We had a huge long one given to us, almost the length of the truck and our order wasn't even on it ! The truck driver didn't want to take it back to the depot because it was a nuisance loading.
Sometimes businesses sell them for a few dollars along the road just to get rid of them or even better, you can find them for free. Try not to use them for firewood it's such a waste & we can do without the pollution. We've recycled pallets into many useful things. We've made compost bins, tree guards, chook houses, 2 utility benches & recently 2 feed troughs. Really it only costs the nails / screws & any extra wire & corrugated iron you have spare.
Their uses are almost endless. I'm sure there are many ideas for what they can turned into. Above photos some of ours, feed troughs & utility / drying benches.
